As a direct result of our efforts to assist local business in the Southcentral Kentucky region, Soky.net, Llc is proud to announce the creation of Soky Solutions. This new company will focus on company branding, image, public relations, marketing, advertising and assisting business owners and organizations in Bowling Green and the Barren River Area Development District.
Capitalizing on the unique skills and talents of David Francis and Tim Hunt, Soky Solutions will offer a wealth of first hand experience to their clients. While Soky.net has become known for producing highly effective web presence for our clients, we have also been encouraged to expand into more offline activities relating to marketing and public relations.
As a division of Soky.net, Llc., Soky Solutions will begin a targeted outreach effort in February 2007. We intend to offer our services to a few select clients at first so as to give them the full attention they deserve. The first few months will be filled with exciting and challenging developments as we build our team, establish our presence and refine our offering.
Mr. Tim Hunt will be leading this exciting project! Due to Tim's intimate knowledge of our community, success as a marketing consultant and passion for assisting fellow small business owners, we are proud to announce that he will be leading Soky Solutions on the behalf of Soky.net.

Small Business Brief
A quick scan of my logs indicated I was receiving a number of incoming visitors from Small Business Brief... first I want to thank them for listing my blog on their home page. Second, I want to let you know what a great resource it is.
The people at Small Business Brief work very hard to bring a constant flow of information, ideas and advice for small business and entrepreneurs. They publish an online newsletter as well as encourage discussion on their forum.
I've contributed to the forum a good bit and even won an award for a thoughtful post. I use my coffee cup every single day. The forum has so much activity that it's hard to keep up sometimes, but that's due to the popularity and the constant flow of great ideas and suggestions.
I would recommend the site to anyone.

Equipment Breakdown Insurance
Why You Need Equipment Breakdown Insurance
Your property/casualty insurance probably won't cover you in the event your high-tech equipment goes haywire.
By Cliff Ennico Entrepreneur.com
You're going along swimmingly in your business, until one day, a power surge or equipment failure wipes out your computer system. Fortunately (or so you think), you have property/casualty insurance, so you call your insurance broker and explain what happened. The broker calls you an hour later and says "Sorry, you're not covered."
After expressing your shock and dismay, you say "How can that be?" The broker explains that your property/casualty policy only covers damage to your equipment from "external" causes, such as a fire, a flood or a tree falling on your roof. The policy does not cover damage from "internal" causes such as mechanical failure, electrical short circuit or "arcing" (faulty wiring or motor burnout).

Books: E-Myth Mastery
There is a book that I have recommended hundreds of times to small business owners and those who want to. The book is "E-Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber. I was disusing effective entrepreneurship with a new client of mine and recommended the book once again. Since I have used up, misplaced or otherwise lost my copy of E-Myth, I logged onto Amazon to order a new one.
As I searched for "E-Myth Revisited," I was reminded of the 2004 book by Gerber titled, "E-Myth Mastery, What Every Successful Entrepreneur Does." Since I loved the first one, I decided to buy the hard cover and just received it today.
My read list is growing!!! Even in this order I received E-Myth Mastery, 2 copies of E-Myth Revisited, The World Almanac 2007, and the Small Business Book of Lists. Still on my "need to read" shelf is Never Eat Alone, Bag the Elephant and The 33 Ruthless Rules of Local Advertising.
So how does a busy business owner, web developer and consultant find to time to do all this reading? Admittedly, he hasn't; but he will!! Even if just one chapter a day, I will get through these books soon and post my impressions.
I will start reading E-Myth Mastery 1st because of an existing effort to acquire a new business and innovate it as well as my existing ones. It's part of my effort to develop a strong formula for exploring, managing, operating and profiting from my own companies.

Best online advertisement Warning, Adult content
This was a comment I posted on www.smallbiztrends.com in response to an article about Flash Movies for Online Marketing.
I’ve been observing online marketing and advertising for years, but during the Christmas marketing blitz, I found myself clicking on a banner add of a guy in a robe and the resulting advertisement made me say WOW.
The fact is, this kind of presentation is going to be for the big budget advertisers, but I have to agree… it was much more entertaining AND involving than the typical buy me splash page.
